This Masterbuilt Telecaster showcases an exquisite ash body with a spotlight-worthy AAAA flame maple top and a striking transparent NOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Its supremely comfortable — and eminently stunning — flame maple neck features a supple Large C profile. Meanwhile, the 21-fret, modern-radius flame maple fingerboard ensures easy playability that will keep you coming back again and again. Additionally, both the neck and fingerboard have been roasted to optimal dryness, making them more resistant to humidity shifts and temperature changes than non-roasted necks and fingerboards.

When it comes to delivering exceptional tones, Sweetwater’s sizable stable of Tele fanatics finds this Fender Custom Shop ’52 Telecaster to be a standout choice. The bridge Texas Special Tele single-coil pickup is overwound for added output, featuring Alnico V magnets and enamel-coated magnet wire for unparalleled presence and magnificent midrange. This hand-wound pickup also includes height-staggered pole pieces and a copper-plated steel bottom plate. The CuNiFe Wide Range neck humbucker offers extra flavor with a hi-fi, bell-like tone, robust low end, and plenty of high-end clarity. Originally designed by humbucker guru Seth Lover, this pickup retains Polysol wire, Fender-exclusive CuNiFe magnets, and an eye-catching chrome cover adorned with the classic Fender logo.
Meet the Master Builder: Fender Custom Shop’s Paul Waller
Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Paul Waller, a Southern California native, has woodworking and luthiery in his blood. He built his first guitar at 14 in his high school woodshop and later graduated from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in 2000. Paul joined Fender in 2003, apprenticed under master archtop craftsman Bob Benedetto, and became a Master Builder in 2010. His notable Fender Custom Shop work includes guitars for U2’s Adam Clayton and Bono, the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, Buddy Guy, the Nile Rodgers “Hitmaker” Stratocaster, and a custom double-neck Jazzmaster for Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen.
