PRS Private Stock instruments represent the very best that Paul and his team of master luthiers have to offer, crafted using the finest tonewoods available anywhere on the planet to form a 6-string worthy of passing down for generations. Designed by Sweetwater’s team of guitar experts, the Private Stock #11813 McCarty is the ultimate form of beauty and sophistication. We started with a unique black limba body with a matching control cavity cover, then paired it with a highly impressive, jaw-dropping curly maple top and equally striking black limba neck. There is no other sense of top-tier guitar-building artistry than with Sweetwater’s exclusive Owls in Flight inlays over the curly maple and ebony fingerboard — a theme originally dreamed up between PRS’s Paul Miles and Sweetwater’s team of guitar experts. Finally, we took a trip down memory lane and added the legendary HFS/Vintage Bass pickup set, giving you a screaming hot sound with plenty of rich, luscious midrange. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime instrument, the #11813 McCarty is Sweetwater’s proud contribution to the PRS Private Stock pantheon.

Private Stock appointments

Sweetwater’s guitar experts designed the Private Stock #11813 to be visually captivating in every way and from all angles — front, back, and sides. To start, the Electric Tiger Dragon’s Breath ignites the top-shelf figured maple top, grabbing your immediate attention and luring you into an elongated trance with the matching natural black limba body and neck, complete with a matching cover plate for the electronics cavity. Flip back to the front of Private Stock #11813 to find an ebony and figured maple fingerboard with the masterfully cut Owls in Flight inlays. The figured maple continues past the bone nut and to the headstock with a similarly figured veneer and truss rod cover with a lone ebony-cut owl perched in front of a MOP moon inlay. Finally, Private Stock #11813 is dressed in a glossy nitro finish for the body and a satin finish on the back of the neck. The gloss makes the complete package spring to life, and the satin neck provides a slick, non-stick feel for hours of unencumbered playtime.

Living up to its acronym, “Hot, Fat, Screaming,” and then some, the HFS bridge pickup is an absolute workhorse capable of maximum chugging, amp-slamming, lead-searing high gain that retains its diverse and cleaner musical identity with simple changes in picking dynamics, amp setting changes, and guitar controls. Its rhythm pickup counterpart, the Vintage Bass, cools down the carnage with robust lows and a relaxed midrange. When pushed, the Vintage Bass produces some stellar open-sounding lead tones that bring tears of joy to anyone within earshot of hearing it. Together, the HFS/Vintage Bass set makes a formidable and sonically diverse team that is sure to win over the hearts of any guitar tone gurus.

Pattern profile neck for optimized playability

The Private Stock #11813 McCarty is spec’d with PRS’s Pattern profile neck. A hallmark of PRS quality, neck shapes are, of course, critical to your playing experience. Perfected after years of prototyping, the Pattern neck is an updated Wide Fat PRS neck style based on neck shapes Paul Reed Smith designed in the 1970s and ’80s for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Howard Leese of Heart. Fast and comfortable, the Pattern profile always feels just right. In reality, most electric guitarists employ a combination of thumb-over and thumb-behind fretting-hand positions in their playing, and the Pattern profile lets you switch seamlessly between the two.
